I was asked at quite short notice to create a baby mobile for a newborn baby boy. Given the short time frame I needed to get to work staightaway and decided to cop out of designing my own and used a lovely pattern by Amy Gaines called Happy Day Mobile. The pattern is available online here.
I altered it by having them lined up side-by-side along a rod rather than stacked as in the original design. The rod is a piece of garden cane wrapped in yarn to both give it a soft finish and colour coordinate it with the raindrops. It's so cute and colourful and would look lovely in any baby's nursery. Hopefully baby will be mesmerised by the colours just as much as I was!
One thing I always love about about making pieces with faces on is that they all seem to take their own personality. No two homemade toys ever have exactly the same face. I can really notice this in the two raindrops above. The one on the right has a definite mischievous glint in it's eye...
This is adorable! I love the sun one!
ReplyDeletecan i have one please?
ReplyDeleteOh you are so clever, i love your stuff. I'm sure this mobile appeals to adults as much as babies.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, just noticed you've kindly added me to your bloglist. Thanks I'm really touched!
Muchas gracias.
Gracias!!!
You are very welcome. I hope you enjoy making it :)
