Mitten and Makings gets a Mention

Ooh this is all a bit too exciting for me.  I've had my first mention in a big selling knitting magazine, Let's Knit.  It's in the November issue, which was released in the UK yesterday.

Of course I had to get my hands on a copy so I set aside my Saturday morning to track one down (whilst sneaking in a spot of shopping and a few treats for me) and then looked forward to an afternoon with a nice cup of tea and a sit down with the magazine.  As it happens it was easy to find as Morrison's magazine department was well stocked.
The nice people at Let's Knit had somehow come across my Knitted Lace Table Lamp from THIS post  (also featured in THIS post when it got a new base) which I made using a pattern from Let's Knit issue 39.
Here's the page I was on - can you spot me?  It's there amongst the month's top pick of books and blogs, etc. so I feel very honoured indeed to have found my way into that. Here's a closer look for you:
Yep, that's definitely my little blog down there.  I've not yet reached my six month blogiversary so to know that people are already reading it makes me very happy indeed.

The magazine itself is always has plenty of patterns for all levels of skill and some of my favourite picks from this issue are:
These very cute Ugg Boot style boottees and this Scandinavian inspired tea cosy, both of which I'd like to have a go at when I get a chance.  The bootees look great as the tall ankle cuff should hopefully prevent them being kicked off little baby feet.  And having a weakness for Scandinavian style and design the tea cosy is right up my street.
As mentioned, whilst at the shops I did get myself a couple of treats.  I am totally loving Matalan at the moment.  Lots of lovely pieces and all very affordable so it's completely guilt-free shopping.  I'm also feeling ever-so-slightly smug that I've lost quite a bit of weight recently I've been able to reward myself with a spruce up of my wardrobe and as a result the charity shop has had a large donation of my out-grown (out-shrunken?) goods.  Here are my latest additions:
I'm loving all dresses with sleeves right now and anything with lots of buttons is always a winner in my eyes.  And at only £16 I could not resist this autumnal mustard colour shirt dress.  I also could not resist this super cute cut out heart belt for just the price of a coffee (though that's not to say I went without that either as I did also treat myself to tea and cake, shhhh...) but anyway, it was only £2.
Hope you've all found some bargains at the shops this weekend.
