During the chaos of having my kitchen done I didn't get much time for crafting and that which I did manage to do needed to be relaxing and not involve too much concentration. So knitting up a few simple cat blankets was the perfect project. I could pick it up when I was able to snatch a few spare minutes and just do a couple of rows at a time.
I'd seen an appeal in local press for Wetnose Animal Aid who were asking for people to knit up some blankets for cats in shelters and catteries. No pattern was included on their website so I created something simple myself . It's mostly in stocking stich but with a border of garter stitch which helps the blankets lay flat. It was a great way to use up a few balls of unwanted yarn and decrease my stash for a worthy cause. If you're able to spare some yarn and some knitting time I'm sure the cats would be very grateful. The address to send / take the blankets to is included on the Wetnose website via the link above.
My pattern for a cat blanket can be found here on my Knitting Patterns Page.
Blimey these kitties are going to be pampered - bet the organisers weren't expecting anything quite so pretty (if you'd said the second one was for a new baby I wouldn't have batted an eyelid!)
